Pierre Boivin

Pierre Boivin is a builder and corporate leader who pursued his entire career in the sports and entertainment industry.

Since 1999, he is President of the Montreal Canadiens, the Gillett Entertainment Group and the Bell Centre. He manages and oversees all sports and entertainment activities presented at the Bell Centre and in several other indoor and outdoor venues across Eastern Canada.

In 1994, Pierre Boivin was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Canstar Sports Inc., a Montreal-based public company and a world leader in the hockey equipment industry. In 1995, Canstar was acquired by Nike, Inc. and became Bauer Nike Hockey Inc. Pierre remained as CEO of the new company until 1999.

From 1993 to 1994, Pierre Boivin held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Weider Sporting Goods Inc., a world-leading sports and fitness equipment manufacturer based in Los Angeles.

Pierre founded Norvinca Inc. in 1979 and the company rapidly became the most important sporting goods distributor in Canada. Pierre remained President and CEO, and shareholder of the company until it was acquired by the Benetton Sports Group in 1992.

Pierre is a member of the Board of Governors of the National Hockey League. He is Chairman of the board of Kangaroo Media Inc. and a member of the board of Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (XM Canada) and Questerre Energy Corporation.

Pierre Boivin is also very involved in the community as Chairman of the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation, a member of the board of Hexagram, a university-based research and development institution in the arts and media. He is a former member of the Centraide of Greater Montreal Campaign Committee and chairman of its Commerce Section.

He is also the Chairman of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation which he founded in 2000. Since its inception, the Foundation has donated over $7 million to support over 300 organizations in Quebec dedicated to improving the well-being of sick and underprivileged children.

Pierre is married to Lucie Nadeau and they have three children.
