Paul Lévesque is President of Pfizer Canada Inc., the Canadian operation of Pfizer Inc, the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical company. Pfizer discovers, develops and markets innovative medicines for humans and animals, and is one of the leading investors in research and development in Canada across all industries.
Mr. Lévesque has worked in the research-based pharmaceutical industry since 1985 when he joined Upjohn Canada, moving through various sales and sales training positions. He joined Pfizer Canada in 1992 as a product manager and moved through various marketing positions while working on and launching numerous important, innovative products. In 2000, he became the first Vice-President of Marketing for Pfizer Canada and in 2002 moved to Paris to take a similar position with Pfizer France, a position he held until being named to his current role in January 2007.
Through his broad Canadian and International experience, Mr. Lévesque has gained significant insight and understanding of the healthcare challenges facing governments around the world, and has worked to foster collaboration and innovation among the public and private sectors to address them. A strong believer in the importance of a knowledge-based economy, he plays a key role in advocating for increased investment in research and development in Canada in order to accelerate medical discovery, stimulate economic growth and improve Canada’s competitiveness.
He holds a BSc in biochemistry from Laval University, Quebec City, and a Diploma in Management from McGill University, Montreal. Mr. Lévesque currently serves in the following positions:
