To mark the organization’s 60th anniversary, Charles Emond will be highlighting CDPQ’s relevance and impact in Québec and around the world at a time when all convictions are being put to the test. His presentation will be followed by a discussion with Marie Hélène Noiseux, a member of Retraite Québec’s Board of Directors and a professor of finance at UQAM’s School of Management (ESG UQAM). Their conversation will focus on issues of current interest, including Mr. Emond’s outlook on the future of Quebecers’ pension.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Charles Emond is responsible for the strategic direction of CDPQ and positioning the institution in Québec and international markets to deliver optimal performance for its depositors.
Since stepping into his role in 2020, he has created a unifying culture to mobilize teams and implemented several initiatives to transform the portfolio to perform well in a complex environment and position CDPQ for the future. In addition to taking the organization even further in terms of its role and impact in Québec, he expanded its international standing through a concerted approach that leverages the organization’s broad network to seize the best opportunities. He also led the execution and commissioning of the REM, a historic transportation project, and raised the level of CDPQ’s ESG ambitions and leadership in sustainable investing.
Prior to this, he held the position of Executive Vice-President, Québec, Private Equity and Strategic Planning.
Before joining CDPQ in 2019, Mr. Emond worked for nearly 20 years at Scotia Bank and Scotia Capital, where he held the positions of Executive Vice-President, Financial Affairs and Global Head, Investment Banking and Capital Markets, in addition to serving as the Chairman of the Board of Jarislowsky Fraser.
He is a graduate of HEC Montréal and holds the FCPA and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations.
